Update from Dirty Harry’s New Family

15 Feb

I thought I would give you an update on Dirty Harry since it has been a few weeks after adopting him. He has been a fabulous little guy so far, he is the most well behaved and cuddly cat i have ever met. He has definitely grown a bit since i adopted him and he certainly enjoys his food lol. He still has the sniffles and sneezes a lot so i think he could possibly have allergies but otherwise he has been in great health.

Story of Humphrey

Humphrey Comes Home

As lifelong animal lovers our house has always been blessed with the joy of pets – rarely having just one at a time.

When my wife and I went to buy a home we did so knowing we would always have God’s beautiful creatures living with us. While some people looked for homes with master bathrooms or breakfast nooks our priorities moved towards a big yard for our dogs to run and cool little hideaways spots for our cats to retreat. Our little daughter has also inherited our love for pets so it is safe to say we have an animal haven.

Our current “cat” roster consists of three terrific animals. There is “Sugar” the Himalayan and very much the Queen of the group. We have “Simon” a black domestic short hair whom we picked up through another shelter. Simon is the only male cat and likes to show off for the lady cats by catching whatever he can whenever he can. And the new cat “Millie May” a Tortie who we rescued at just 8 weeks from an old golf course equipment shed. She was weak and frail then but full of life now!

As for dogs we have always favored the Beagles or Beagles mixes. We had one of the best Beagles of all time named “Roscoe”. He was a beautiful Beagle male, very kind, rarely barked, and loved just everyone. He left us way too soon in life after just ten short years. We were not as fortunate with our next Beagle and when she left us we felt like maybe our dogs days were over. That is until we found Humphrey!!!

We found Humphrey through petfinders.com at Charm City Rescue. We loved him from the moment we met him at the Foster parent’s home. He is a gentle, obedient, fun loving dog who just wanted to be loved and a second chance. He already rules the yard! And yes – he loves the cats!!!

He has filled a giant void we’ve felt since our dear Roscoe and that was something we thought impossible. The similarities between them are amazing.

We are blessed to have him and he has a home for life.

Mr. Chunkers Gets a Great New Home

3 Nov

This is the story of Mr. Chunkers adoption as told by his new owner Amanda Harris. Thank you so much for sharing your story with us.

When checking petfinder.com one day for available dogs in the Baltimore area, my family came across the cutest little face we had ever seen.   ‘Mr. Chunkers’ (now renamed Loki) has brought joy and warmth to our family like no other.

He is a 6 month old pit mix who has made himself quite comfortable in our home and our hearts.  He’s great with my kids, ages 2 and 4 and their friends, greets each and every person who comes to our door with a wiggly wagging body- because Loki doesn’t just wag his tail, it’s a whole body motion- and tons of kisses.  He even sleeps on the couch with our cats snuggled right up together.  This is particularly amazing, since saying my cats don’t care for dogs is the understatement of a decade.  We have had him a week and he is completely house trained, and only has to be crated when we leave the house for an extended time- sometimes he mistakes the kids’ toys for his own but hasn’t destroyed anything.

Honestly, he’s simply the most amazing dog I have ever owned.  I grew up with labs, shepards, and a pomeranian, and this dog is by far the most loyal and lovable guy.  There isn’t a nasty bone in his body, we don’t have to worry about nipping or growling.  And forget barking.  He only barks maybe once or twice to let us know there’s something going on.

Many of our extended family were cautious about our adopting a pit into a house with small children.  Like many others, they only hear the horror stories the media presents to them, but upon meeting Loki, let’s just say their eyes have been opened to a whole different side of the breed.  Thank you all so much for giving this guy a second chance and bringing him into our lives!  We couldn’t imagine our lives without him now!”

I'm just the cutest !!!
